Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs

If you asked my boyfriend what his favorite meal I cook is he would say honey garlic chicken thighs. It is the perfect combination of sweet, savory and garlicky for those of you who love garlic as much as I do. I usually make this with veggies (#veggielove) and rice or mashed potatoes. This way whatever leftover sauce is in the pan I can add it to the veg for more flavor. This recipe is really easy to make and can be altered depending on if you want your chicken thighs to be spicier or have more of a garlic flavor.
Serving: For two people
Cooking Time: 25-30 minutes
What you need:
  • 1 pack of Skinless/Boneless Chicken Thighs
  • 3 tbs of Honey
  • 1/2 tbs of Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp of Basil
  • 3 (or more) Garlic Cloves
  • 1/8 tsp of Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tsp of Water
  • 1 tsp of Butter or Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
Important to Note: This recipe needs to be cooked low and slow, and you need to pay attention to the heat. I have an older stove and find that sometimes I need to cook on a higher heat. If you see the sauce turning dark brown or bubbling, reduce the heat immediately.
How to make it:
  1. Heat 1 tsp of butter or olive oil in a large non-stick pan on a medium-low heat
  2. Mince garlic (tip: if you have a food chopper use it!)
  3. In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, basil water, and cayenne pepper and mix together
  4. Place chicken thighs in pan and cover chicken thighs in the honey garlic sauce
  5. Every 5 minutes flip the chicken thighs over make sure they are covered in the sauce
  6. After 20 minutes, reduce heat to low and let the chicken thighs sit until they have become golden brown (5-10 minutes)
  7. Serve up with your favorite sides and enjoy!
